Three things for voting day.
Jan. 23rd, 2006 12:48 am1. Vote!
Hardly any excuse for not voting is good enough beyond medical emergency, IMHO.
2. Rob Hyndman's very pretty blog reminds us that posting comments that reference results of the election before the polls have closed coast to coast is illegal in Canada. Andrew Coyne sneakily suggests reporting hypothetical results of an election featuring Fascists, Crooks, Commies, and Traitors. :)
3. The final predictions:

Date: 2006-01-22 11:27 pm (UTC)It'd be slighly amusing if ElectionPrediction.org's results came true -- then no one could form a government without the support of the Bloc. (Odd fact of the night: an old gay acquaintance of mine from Waterloo, Milton Chan, actually started up ElectionPrediction.org.)
I've really got to remember to change my riding before the next election to somewhere I can potentially make a difference. Why can't we just get proportional representation already?
BTW, thanks for all the posts on the different ridings; I thought the profiles well done and interesting.

Date: 2006-01-23 06:33 am (UTC)Jo's playgroup today is at the same building as the voting so she will do that when she is there. I however had to be at work before the polls opened this morning, and then after work we have a baby sign language class to attend, so I won't be able to vote until after 8:30pm tonight (yay for extended hours).

Date: 2006-01-23 12:33 pm (UTC)Last point: CBC’s the Blog Report notes that U.S. bloggers might well decide to post Canadian election results early (and thanks to the CBC for pointing us there), and that the Elections Act doesn’t apply to websites or broadcasters outside of Canada. Few things could be more tedious at this point than embarking on a jurisdictional debate about the Act, but I will point to Section 331, patriotically titled “Non-interference by Foreigners”:
"No person who does not reside in Canada shall, during an election period, in any way induce electors to vote or refrain from voting or vote or refrain from voting for a particular candidate unless the person is
a) A Canadian Citizen

Date: 2006-01-23 12:46 pm (UTC)Oh, and I'll also use it to complain about interviewing because I don't think I did that loudly and publicly enough this morning.
