Over 70% of Canadians are now considered equal under marriage law. But same-sex couples are still "less equal" in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland & Labrador, along with the Yukon, Nunavut, and Northwest Territories.

I wonder how long it will take for equal rights to actually happen? Certainly Paul Martin and Stephen Harper aren't likely to be very helpful in this regard...

Guess he and Matt have had enough. Aren't you glad celebrities are on our side?

Affleck Slams Gay Marriage Opposition

Hollywood hunk Ben Affleck has slammed American President George W Bush's call to outlaw gay marriage. Thousands of same-sex couples - including TV personality Rosie O'Donnell and her longtime love Kelli Carpenter - have flocked to San Francisco, California, in recent weeks to tie the knot in defiance of Bush's ban. And Affleck, who recently enjoyed a same-sex smooch with comic actor Seth Meyers when they starred in a gay marriage skit on Saturday Night Live, has joined a growing list of celebrities who believe homosexuals should be allowed the right to wed. He says, "I don't think the government should be involved in any way in people's bedrooms or lives. With so much hatred and unpleasantness in the world, why would you wanna get in the way of people who love each other marrying each other? "Anybody who wants to be able to get married to anybody else should be able to. It's not my business."
