Oh no, that sucks! I'm just waiting for my flight from last week to post and I'll be Star Alliance Gold! Finally, I'll get the recognition I deserve :o)
I should post an update - I'm now on track due to an impulse trip to Tokyo in 2 weeks. Will hit my 35k miles requirement Sept 10th over northern Canada somewhere. Still won't get my major miles like last year, but as long as I maintain *G I'm happy!
I considered collecting miles on Aeroplan a while ago just for getting the status but decided against it in the end as AC miles are not that great value for someone living in the UK.
True - they're valid for use on all StarAlliance carriers of course, but earning and keeping your account in good standing is a bit trickier from your location.
