When I asked that was the option the quoted for me. Maybe we just are mostly an 8703 shop? I dunno. My boss has an 8830, or maybe a Pearl... I get confused easily.

I guess if Bell doesn't offer the curve (bizarre), then there needs to be an option for those who prefer the full qwerty keyboard.

But it is a previous generation of the device.

Hmmm. Judging from the features comparison on RIM's site, I didn't see a big gap in features -- are there many differences beyond the shape?

Oh, good point. I have a brain freeze whenever I try to use a blackberry and have to relearn how to use the damn thumb thing.
