c9: (House on Fire)
[personal profile] c9
We are about to be the proud new owners of a Roomba!  Woohoo!

I am quite proud of this because they're rare in Canada, expensive when you can find them, and going for high prices on eBay all the time. I got a decent price, zero shipping because it currently lives only a couple klicks away, and the Canadian dollar is at a 30-year high!

I look forward to many blog posts complaining about it in the future.

Update: I can not believe I spent that much on a vacuum either. But this house is so dirty. It's ridiculous.

I hope the cats don't hate it. :\

Why does the house get so dirty?

I hope so too!

I think there's a few things that make it dirtier, and maybe make it seem dirtier to boot. The hardwood compared t the carpet for one (doesn't collect / hide hair and dirt), plus the old house with lots of dust and oldness everywhere. :) The basement is crazy for 60 years' worth of dirt, so that alone gets tracked back upstairs a lot. I love wearing white socks, but this place is turning all my socks grey!

Wouldn't a good old school day long scrubbing session take care of the basement and hardwood floors? :p

Do I hear you volunteering?

C'mon! You had a long weekend for it too. Have you been a lazy boy this Victoria Day weekend, Vinny? :p

PS: I would if not for the fact that I live an hour away now.

Unfortunately, no. The crumbling walls and peeling paint mean that things keep appearing even after our multiple cleaning sessions, and the basement cement is crumbling in a few spots, so new dirt and pebbles show up down there too. I think the Roomba could help just because it's more repetitive than we are, so we can make it do the same thing over and over without us getting tired of it. :)

We have a Roomba, and I try to run it at least twice a week. However, I've forgotten to do so for about the past 100 times.

When I run it, it works pretty well, but it's so noisy on hardwood floors that I can't stand to have it running while I'm at home.

Interesting -- I hadn't read anything that mentioned excessive noise thus far. I'll have to check it out and see.

Maybe the cats will get a new daytime friend...

A remote-controlled vacuum Dalek in every home. Don't you realise this is their first step to invasion?!

I need a full review, when you're equipped to give one. We have hardwood, cats, geeky mentality etc., too, so you're an excellent test-case.

We get dust bunnies the size of cats under the couch and other inconvenient to vacuum spots. I'd love to not to have to think about it.
