We actually have a bit of a plan. We both have jobs (across the street from each other!) in Toronto, so it's just a matter of exchanging one home for another.
The current Xmas plan is to drive to NB and back, with New Years in Ottawa. We hope to still make that work. We'd be gone for 10 days though, so we're probably not good car-sitters for you.
(if you live in Ottawa, why would it make sense for your car to be in Toronto? I'm confused.)
Parking suggestion: The Economy parking at Pearson Airport is reasonable ($10.95/day, $49.95/week) and here's a coupon to save $10 off the week.
1. Within 20-min walking radius of Bloor and Yonge. Both our offices are there. 2. Within 10-min walking radius of Bloor or Yonge subway lines. 3. Within 10-min walking radius of a useful streetcar line.
We like High Park, but we really don't know the city well enough to have more defined ideas yet.
I have friends who bought a nice (but small) condo for about $250 (granted, a few years ago) in what used to be North York. Yes, it's pretty far north, but it's right on the subway line so a quick commute to Bloor/Yonge. The building beside theirs is directly above a really nice Superstore and North York station -- if you lived there you wouldn't have to go outside to get groceries, Second Cup, or to the subway in the winter. :-).
There's plenty of condos right downtown in our price range, they're just tiny. So we need to balance our need for space with our budget. Should be interesting.
The condo, while lovely, isn't enough to induce me to live in Kitchener. Oh, and the fact that there's no way I could afford to buy a place at all...
In case it's useful, Julie will be moving to Toronto in November. If you guys need a place to stay, I'm sure she'd be up for it. Her apartment is near Jarvis and Front if I recall correctly.
We have no many offers of places to stay -- it's awesome! I don't know why we should househunt at all. Just buy some self-storage and keep making friends.

Date: 2006-10-17 01:21 pm (UTC)They look good this morning. A few corners that we didn't flatten enough, but now I know better to check them carefully just in case they shift.
And the spacers pop out easily. Woo!

Enjoyy your adventures!

This is good news, though: one less place in Ontario to visit on our (admittedly infrequent) trips there.
