*choking sound*

Vincent just submitted his resignation. It's real. Eeeeeek!

Anybody want to buy a condo in Kitchener? Please?

I hear the Kitchen

has almost newly installed tile floors (in the Kitchen at least)...

It's true!

They look good this morning. A few corners that we didn't flatten enough, but now I know better to check them carefully just in case they shift.

And the spacers pop out easily. Woo!

I've already told you the plan. That is to say, there is none yet. :)

Well, sort of. Fix up condo, sell it, buy a place in Toronto, move, all within the next two months. Yikes!

We actually have a bit of a plan. We both have jobs (across the street from each other!) in Toronto, so it's just a matter of exchanging one home for another.

The current Xmas plan is to drive to NB and back, with New Years in Ottawa. We hope to still make that work. We'd be gone for 10 days though, so we're probably not good car-sitters for you.

(if you live in Ottawa, why would it make sense for your car to be in Toronto? I'm confused.)

Parking suggestion: The Economy parking at Pearson Airport is reasonable ($10.95/day, $49.95/week) and here's a coupon to save $10 off the week.

Ah, that makes perfect sense then. Certainly sounds worth it!

Congrats! In which part of town (Toronto) are you looking?

[identity profile] c9.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Our preferences are:

1. Within 20-min walking radius of Bloor and Yonge. Both our offices are there.
2. Within 10-min walking radius of Bloor or Yonge subway lines.
3. Within 10-min walking radius of a useful streetcar line.

We like High Park, but we really don't know the city well enough to have more defined ideas yet.

[identity profile] skeezix1000.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Those are pretty broad preferences -- you shouldn't have a problem finding a place, esp. if you are looking for another condo.

[identity profile] c9.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, we're not really worried. Once you input our price range (<$250k) it gets trickier. Still not impossible.

[identity profile] skeezix1000.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Not at all. You won't be at Bloor and Yonge, but you could get something in a good neighbourhood close to the subway.

[identity profile] c9.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 02:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Next challenge: it has to be something we like, with 2 beds and 2 baths and hopefully a balcony. :)

[identity profile] sarah-sosiak.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I have friends who bought a nice (but small) condo for about $250 (granted, a few years ago) in what used to be North York. Yes, it's pretty far north, but it's right on the subway line so a quick commute to Bloor/Yonge. The building beside theirs is directly above a really nice Superstore and North York station -- if you lived there you wouldn't have to go outside to get groceries, Second Cup, or to the subway in the winter. :-).

[identity profile] c9.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
There's plenty of condos right downtown in our price range, they're just tiny. So we need to balance our need for space with our budget. Should be interesting.

[identity profile] joecdn.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Eeeek! That'll get you a broom closet here in Vancouver LOL.

[identity profile] c9.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Precisely why we're not moving to Vancouver any time soon!

[identity profile] joecdn.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah....it just means that I've got to save a helluva lot of money in order to buy my first home. LOL

Congrats!

[identity profile] deah.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 01:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Holy crap!!! Congrats to Vin!!

Good luck selling the condo... it looks so much better then when you first moved in, shouldn't be a problem selling it!

Enjoyy your adventures!

Re: Congrats!

[identity profile] c9.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! We're keeping our fingers and toes crossed. Should be an interesting (read: hellish) two months!

[identity profile] jpman.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 02:20 pm (UTC)(link)
The condo, while lovely, isn't enough to induce me to live in Kitchener. Oh, and the fact that there's no way I could afford to buy a place at all...

In case it's useful, Julie will be moving to Toronto in November. If you guys need a place to stay, I'm sure she'd be up for it. Her apartment is near Jarvis and Front if I recall correctly.

[identity profile] c9.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
We have no many offers of places to stay -- it's awesome! I don't know why we should househunt at all. Just buy some self-storage and keep making friends.

[identity profile] bartok.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Congratulations. Have you explained the move to the kitties, and that they'll have to make all new friends?

[identity profile] c9.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
No, we're including them when we sell the condo. It's much simpler.

[identity profile] bartok.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Why am I thinking that's Vinny's idea? :-)

BTW, I think at least 3 people from Hfx are now in TO (Vince, Darren, Trevor A.) so you can have a little 2002-2003 reunion on your hands. :-)

[identity profile] c9.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
There's nothing I miss more than 2002-2003.

[identity profile] bartok.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I sense you're lying.

[identity profile] c9.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
There are some things I miss more than 2002-2003, and even some years. But not many.

Anybody want to buy a condo in Kitchener? Please?

But I never even got to see it!

This is good news, though: one less place in Ontario to visit on our (admittedly infrequent) trips there.

[identity profile] c9.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think that your lack of visits to KW is really spinnable as our fault.

[identity profile] c9.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a race between you and Jason as to who will visit us less! :)

Am I winning?

What is this job of Vincent's? Does Darren now?

[identity profile] c9.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
A research job. We haven't email blasted the world yet, but soon. :)
