The good news about nuclear destruction. No, seriously. They're not kidding.

I should mention that WorldNetDaily is a wee bit conservative.

Did you look at the actual guide they have posted (http://www.ki4u.com/guide.htm)? It has some good tips on preparation for disasters in general.

A lot of people aren't prepared for things that are much more likely to happen than a nuclear blast in their city like flu pandemic, ice storms, hurricanes, etc... Even if you lose your job, having a supply of food can help you out.

There was some interesting info though. After visiting the nuclear bunker here and Hiroshima I was surprised to see how fast the radiation dissipates. I always had in my mind that it lasted thousands of years.

Yeah, it was interesting. I felt like I was reading a poster from 1953 or something.

Yeah, some of this may be wacky, but it's also very true. Americans as a whole have an "it can't happen to me" mentality, which is why 9-11 was so shocking to most people.

There's also a sense that if you buy some insurance, you've done your risk management duty to yourself. However, most people have absolute no clue how to survive a natural disaster (witness Katrina) much less potential war or insurgency.
