I said "prosperous", not "populous". China may have opened enough sweatshops to creep up to seventh place on the IMF and World Bank ranking of nations by nominal GDP, but it's still ranked 88th in the UN Human Development Index, which sort of takes the wind out of their recent economic success (which is really only impressive because it had always been such a hellhole, anyway).

But it's trending up, not down. "Prosperous" connotes an increase in (wealth|power|happiness) over time. I predict China will be wealthier, more powerful, and happier than America in the future. Even if "happier" is defined as "told to be happy". :)
