I have a present for you!

As long as you = Canadian citizen (or interested in Canadian politics).

Cam's Pretty Clearly Left-Leaning Riding Write-ups!

I am planning to do a write-up of several different ridings, showing the candidates, the predictions, maybe a suggestion, and the previous results. And I'll do it for your riding! My goal is to provide information that everyone will find useful, not just people who agree with my politics. All I ask is that you post something you want to know about your riding that will help you decide how to vote. Alternately, tell me your goal for this election. Please be sure to tell me your riding too. Go here to find out.

Example: "I want to know if the Green Party has any chance at all in my riding, because I'd kinda like to support them if it will get them a seat."

Another example: "I think Stephen Harper will actually come into my home and steal my baby and force my child to work in a sweatshop with the homosexuals. I want to stop that."

The final example: "I want the Liberals out out out out out. Also, out."

Etc.

The riding profiles start tomorrow! For those of you uninterested, sorry in advance. I will try to post non-election programming for your benefit too.

Darn. I already voted. If only this service had been offered earlier. :-).

How come you voted already? Do you vote by mail in Canada?

I'm an expat. My ballot arrived in the mail within a week of the election being called. I voted earlyish because there isn't really much hope for my riding, and I was afraid that I'd misplace the ballot if I didn't send it in now.

Interesting. Chileans abroad can't vote.

Though, because I’m curious to know if I made the right decision...

• I vote in Prince-Edward Hastings.

• I’d like to move back to Canada while maintaining my current net buying power.

• I’d also like tohave roughly the same level of access to health care as I have here.*

• I’d like to see Canada remain as liberal (note the small L) as it is now, if not become more so.

• I want to feel safe in most parts of the large city I choose to live in (most likely Toronto or Vancouver).

• I want European-level urban walkability and access to public transit and spaces.

*I can deal with waiting a little longer for doctor’s visits/test/etc... than I do here in exchange for gov’t rather than employer coverage so long as it’s a reasonable amount of time. Say, one month.

I think I'll need to do some Party Profiles to address those issues. Otherwise I'd just end up repeating the same party platform each post. But excellent list!
