c9: (Explosion)
I dislike feeling like I'm being cynical, but currently I'm sitting in this spot:
Hillary = ideas
Obama = ideals
McCain = inevitable

Check out this video. As Paul Wells phrased it, If [Hillary] stops him, some very powerful hope will be dashed.  If she doesn't, I don't suppose anyone can.

That sort of summarizes one thing that I've felt in my bones since last year: completely separate from Hillary's experience, fitness to lead, ideas, etc, I just don't see her winning. Which saddens me. I think she's most likely to win the Democratic nomination, but then everyone will say "isn't it great that in America we finally nominated a serious female candidate?" and then they'll go vote for the straight white Christian male. I can see that happening with Obama too, but his focus on something more esoteric seems to shake things up a bit. It's harder to fight ideals and hope and faith etc, compared with concrete proposals that can be discussed, lied about, etc.

Hillary Clinton's got the ideas, and the experience, and I think she'd probably make the best president out of the three. I'm not sure, but I'm leaning that way.  But Barack Obama is inspiring, and jesus the world needs that. I wasn't around for JFK-mania, so does that mean I'm being sucked in? He's very inspiring, but he is really green and therefore unpredictable in the White House.

Here's what will happen on Tuesday and then what will happen in November: (IMHO)  Can Obama do it? I don't know.

At least there's one good thing about McCain: he's spent a long time hating (and being hated by) the insane right wing that's run the Republicans for the past 16 years. Ann Coulter says she'd campaign for the Democrats rather than for him (1. As if. 2. No thank you.), and when the maniacs hate you you must be a little more centrist. Not much, but still. I hate that he wouldn't change much militarily with how the US is behaving worldwide, but if the rest of the conversation can be changed that may be the silver lining.

Oh well. Can't affect it, can only stay awake late on Tuesday to absorb it all.
