Bill C-38 Update:

Bloc Québécois leader Gilles Duceppe and NDP leader Jack Layton have both agreed to extend the Parliamentary session to pass the bill. ALL IT WILL NOW TAKE TO GET THIS BILL PASSED IS PRIME MINISTER MARTIN TAKING LEADERSHIP AND AGREEING TO DELAY MPs' SUMMER VACATION BY A FEW DAYS.

We need your help. Please take two quick minutes and take these two quick steps:
  • Email the Prime Minister at pm@pm.gc.ca. Even if you emailed the Prime Minister earlier in the week, please do so again.
  • Phone the Prime Minister's office at 613-992-4211 -- it is open 24/7. Call at any time of day or night and leave a message at the switchboard.
Here's what to say: Prime Minister Martin, I am counting on you to take leadership. Jack Layton and Gilles Duceppe are willing to ensure the bill gets passed in the next few days and weeks. All that's needed now to pass the equal marriage bill before summer is your commitment. Please show leadership. Stand up for human rights. I am counting on you.

Note: Letters are worth more to MPs than phone calls, and phone calls are worth more than faxes, and faxes are worth more than emails. Consider your approach to activisim accordingly. When sending email, customize your letter to ensure that it looks different, especially in the first few lines. This will force somebody to read the whole thing and not just the first line.

LJ has Tags now! Tags are a way of labeling different entries as being part of different categories, and then you can easily view only the entries matching a certain tag, like politics, or sex.

I've turned on the option that allows any of my LJ friends to tag my entries. So you can visit any old entry, like this one, and add a tag or two if you feel it would better the world in some way.

I trust this will prove amusing in some way.

Damn. Too late. From come copy I found online from before the sale:
ZURICH, SWITZERLAND - The brochure for the world's first McDonald's hotel was unabashed in its enthusiasm. Staying at the Golden Arch Hotel was "a pleasure as inviting as a big plate of French fries."
