Air Canada will be announcing new livery tomorrow. (that's a new paint job) Here's the new look:

I don't think I like it. But then, I always take a while to warm up to things.

Air Canada not totally grounded is amazing enough.

I liked the old one better, but I don't dislike this one. I just like the old one better.

It seems oddly...high tech. Actually, it's reminding me of Nortel for some reason. Hopefully, it's just me. Otherwise, someone has made a horrible, horrible (but funny) mistake.

In other "Air Canada Makes Bad Decisions" news - I saw a clip on CBC today that Air Canada is partnering with Celine Dion to release a song about the joy of flying. (Or something to that end. I was only half listening. Or it could have been an hallucination...I can’t find a link to it now.)

It's true. When we flew to the cottage, Celine sang a song on the tv before the in-flight news. Good song, for Celine.

WTF! That sounds horrible! Why, Air Canada? Why? How the $&*# is this expected to improve their bottom line?

(Did you catch Jono dissing Celine on "The Greatest Canadian"? It was the most intelligent thing I've ever heard dribble from that man's mouth.)

I'm sure it's not the only thing that's ever dribbled out of his mouth. I'm talkin' DOWNTOWN!

How they can launch a new livery and new uniforms if 18 months ago they were in bankrupcy?.

Because that's what happens when you emerge from bankruptcy protection: you have far less debt, and lower operating costs. It's kind of a rip off. Air Canada managed things poorly, so they went into bankruptcy protection. While there, they forced their unions to renegotiate their contracts, they forced suppliers to give better deals, and they managed to get out of many significant debts entirely. Now they have lower costs, but still a bunch of routes and planes, and major marketshare. Except for the minor detail that Robert Milton is still in charge, they might actually go places now.

I expect them to go back into bankruptcy again, or at least run into major troubles, within the next ten years.

From the runways of Toronto...

And these are their new uniforms: (3.5MB image)

I like the design in general (minus the hideous blue tie), but the fabric seems excessively cheap.
