My wonderful man has written a great description of where we're at.
c9 and I have three plans that we want to consider:
Plan A: Go to Europe in the fall and work for a year. Enjoy everything that we can while making just enough money to live and call home periodically.
Plan B: Stay in Halifax for one more year while I attend university and study statistics. Write the Mathematical Statistican exam for Statistics Canada in October, and hopefully get offered a job like I did last time I wrote the exam. Accept hypothetical job and move to Ottawa.
Plan C: Continue pretty much on the same track that we're on now, but in a different city, since my career opportunities are now 0 in this locale, so long as I wish to continue as an actuary.
For plan A, we can't do anything regarding visas and such until after our honeymoon. We'd have to send them to a consulate, meaning that if we sent them in now, we'd likely not have them back in time. Still, we're actively saving money to be able to afford it, and reading lots of websites.
For plan B, I've applied to Dalhousie, and we do have another 1 year lease on an apartment in this city. I'm thinking of underhanded (moohaha) ways to get this company to pay for some of my tuition before I get laid off. If the money for plan A doesn't get used for that purpose, it automatically falls to plan B.
For plan C, I've resolved to apply to 2 jobs per day until either I accept an offer or the fall comes, in which case A or B will be pursued. If the money in my bank account isn't used for either A or B, we'll have a big shopping spree.
Feel free to suggest a plan D.
