It's Debate Time!

WHEREAS the Mayor of a city is ultimately responsible for the provision of services to the city paid for by taxpayer dollars;

AND WHEREAS the timely removal of snow for the proper functioning of streets, transit, and commercial enterprise is one of said city services;

AND WHEREAS removal of snow from Halifax after last Thursday's 95 cm (38 inch) snowfall has been slow, inconsistent, and disruptive

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Mayor of Halifax should be replaced.

Discuss.

(seriously, there's an opinion column in the Herald today suggesting this, though in a less-flowery way.)

Given that our snow removal equipment is for less snow, I think everything has been acceptable. Not to mention that getting equipment from elsewhere would have taken some time to get here and we probably wouldn't have been that much further ahead.

The complaints should be directed to those that have parked their cars on the streets and those that had gone driving when they were asked to stay off the roads.
