My riding sucks. It is a conservative strong-hold, the last election the cons got 40000 votes, Liberals 20000 votes, and NPD and Green were under 3000 each. So the only person that has a remote chance of getting anywhere close to the conservatives is the Liberals. But this year we have an extremely weak candidate, who tried two times previously to get a conservative nomination so ended up with the Liberals in the end. That, and he decided not to show up at 3 of the all-candidates events in our riding. Geez!

I swear, if the Conservatives get a majority, I'm moving to the US! :-)

Pfew, luckily they didn't. Just as predicted, the cons easily won my riding, he picked up an extra 500 votes over last time. The NDP lost a few votes, and the greens doubled their votes, and the Liberals lost a ton of votes (which went to the greens).

Also, I'm proud to report that our riding voter turnout was 70.1% which probably smokes the rest of the country. So sad the overall turnout was so low again.

Yeah, I was pretty confident that the results would be the results. Besides, if I made good on my threat, I'd just have to move again in November. And at this point, I think my options are pretty limited. The Aussies and the Brits are in worse shape than we are. Maybe Mexico...

At least the Aussies have Koalas and Kangaroos to keep up people's spirits... ;-)
