Flying the old-fashioned way

Today's trip from Calgary to Toronto so popular that Air Canada "changed the equipment" -- swapped in a bigger plane. Bigger by 50% actually -- they replaced the Airbus 320 with a Boeing 767-200. I looked up the fin number (618) on Air Canada's site to learn a bit more about the plane, and turns out that it's one of the oldest 767s in the fleet!

I also learned that it doesn't have the upgraded Air Canada interior, with personal TVs and power plugs for everyone. In fact, it has zero power plugs anywhere (rare these days except on WestJet) and probably has the awful old projection TV at the front of the cabin and that's it. Ugh.

I plan to charge up my laptop battery and hopefully have enough juice to keep myself entertained for four hours.

Sounds precisely like the kind of plane that would be on reserve... elderly, not upgraded, probably still works.

That old Air Canada livery really brings back memories for me. Wow.

Not sure, but possibly. I know the 767s are slated for retirement as the new 777s and 787s arrive -- the Gimli Glider retired just a couple months ago I seem to recall -- but who knows. I just hate the old seats.

I'm geeky enough I keep the registration numbers of every plane I've flown on. I can't quite make that one out though - is it C-FEBO?

I've been on about 1/2 of their 767s between YHZ, YYZ, YYT, YUL and LHR so....

I did back when I was in Halifax, but then fell out of the habit. Which sucks, because I've had some cool flights since then! But I'm thinking about getting back into it.
