Vincent and I are up early and heading out the door any minute to head to our polling stations. We get to be DROs today -- Deputy Returning Officers! Woo! I get to actually count the ballots at Toronto Danforth Poll 143! WooWoo!

Well I'm excited. Nyah.

Elections are important. Even when you think you don't know enough to make an informed decision, that doesn't make the election unimportant. Get informed and then go vote! You have until 9pm tonight, Ontarians!

I'll be offline from now until about 10pm, since we're not allowed to leave or anything... somebody let me know how it goes? :)

That actually sounds really cool. :-)

They are always looking for volunteers for local polling stations in Arizona, but the time commitment is usually more than I can actually manage.

Yay for doing your civic duty! :-)

Why yes, yes we do!

(...and note that's $245 Canadian, so like $250 USD now. Ha!)

Cool for DROing. You will have to let us know how that experience was.

J and I voted this morning right at 9am when the polling stations opened. I was surprised this year how thorough they were with checking IDs and paper ballots being put in the ballot box.

It was funny because we had the kids so J went in first to vote and I stayed in the car, then we switched when she came back. The guy was, "Hey, your wife was just here voting!". Wow, I can't believe it, what a coincidence... ;-)

Done. I was lucky enough to have the lobby of my building as a voting station. Hadn't even left home and had already fulfilled my basic duty to democracy... if I can run for office from the bathroom, my faith will be complete.

It seems that this year there are lots of interesting polling stations. The local grocery store near us was an advance polling station. Get your groceries, choose a government.
