Pop can go bad?

I just opened two different cans of Diet Pepsi that were marked best before Jan 22 2007. They tasted awful!

I then opened a can marked best before August 2007, and it tastes normal Hooray!

Well sure! Soda is yucky and has no flavour -- soda water, I suppose you might call it. :)
