  1. Pen caps are not an appropriate way to prop open those stupid old-fashioned furnace vents in the bedroom, because the caps will regularly fall into the vent.
  2. That mirror at the front door was there a long time, and now the wood underneath (which was beautiful) is exposed (but terribly damaged from paint, glue, and whatnot).
  3. There is a higher percentage of English-as-mother-tongue speakers in our ward than in Toronto overall. I did not expect this, from my limited experience thus far.
  4. The wires I use to run internet radio through the stereo are either damaged or too short.
  5. The cheap-ass kitty litter I bought at IGA is pretty low-quality. Imagine!

I'm not sure I understand about the vent. I am trying to picture how it is being propped open... or how it actually opens.

Is the wood behind the mirror salvageable? You could maybe sand it down and refinish it?

It's a vent that swings open into the wall like a pet door. I'm not clear on how they were originally held open, but when we moved in there were strategic twist ties. I'll be going back to that in the short term.

The wood is definitely salvageable, it just looks like shit right now. The whole place appears to be full of *amazing* wood doors and trim that were ruined by putting paint on them.

Ah yes, the old-fashioned vents... how fun. Hey, would we be able to borrow one of your cats? We've got a mouse problem right now.

When are we getting together for drinks and dim sum? :)

I'm not entirely certain our cats would have any idea what to do. :) Plus, when we rescued them they were already declawed, so they'd have a tough time catching a mouse in any case.

Drinks just about any time!
