Well. Umm. That's not really the shakeup I was expecting! This is basically the biggest shock to Quebec politics in, well, ever.
This history explains faster than I could the pattern of Quebec politics. I can't say I'm in any way saddened by the PQ becoming the third party for the first time since 1970. I always liked Jean Charest, but he has been a relatively poor performer as premier. He's certainly not going to be sticking around for long. Maybe he and André Boisclair can start a soup restaurant or something.
Update: Jean Charest held his seat, and "accepts the challenge" handed to him by the voters. Hmmm.
