Check out this Keith Olbermann clip from a recent broadcast.

Questions:
  • does he think he's on the Daily Show?
  • should we make everyone part of the Daily Show staff so they finally report the abuse of rights by the current Bush+Republicans Administration?
  • will MSNBC put out a press release distancing themselves from his report, or just block his career advancement?

Interesting that you mention this. Keith Olberman has hopped between networks and assignments because of differences in opinion over politics and his reporting style in the past.

MSNBC is a more "left wing" network in general so I doubt they have any problem with Olbermann's commentaries. On the contrary, I suspect he would be encouraged.

Olbermann has been firing shots at the Bush administration for at least the last year. It's definitely a nice change from the previous craven media attention. Hopefully he will give both parties equal scrutiny and cynicism once the Democrats (let us pray) regain Congress.

Heavy-handed humour, but it's a topic requiring a heavy hand.

Exactly. Sadly, it's not even heavy enough to really register with 50% of the populace.

That's a glass-half-empty attitude there, bucko.

Oh no it isn't. This is:

87% of the US population thinks the current administration is lying about stuff.

15% of the US population can't name the current president.

Therefore 2% of the US population both believe the president is lying and know his name.

Compare that to the 2004 election results.

*That's* an empty glass.

That's not an empty glass, that's a mathematical abortion. Who taught you fraction multiplication?

I think he said his name was R. Cheney. I think he works for some big employer in the DC area.

So you're a puppet of the administration.

this is terrible! why isn't this getting more press coverage?

I HATE the fact that newspapers care more about nicole richie than the state of our nation!

Because the press is owned. Olbermann is allowed to go on like this because he's good for ratings, not because he's telling the truth. The truth doesn't get you ad dollars.
