Nerf Suction Cup Dart-form Update
Jul. 3rd, 2006 05:08 pmI thought this would be short and witty, like Kelsey Grammer, but instead it just went on and on, like Frasier Crane.

Alright, that's enough of that. Laundry time.
* I'm sure it was stunningly poor inventory management that led Gap Inc. to need a sudden clearance sale. "Oh no! We have no space for new stuff! We must give people deals!" Right.
** Two inches. I used to buy much baggier clothing all the time (yay body shame!) so now they really bug me. They're OK for once in a while, but I end up feeling self-conscious in them when I want to be pretty. Oh so pretty. I feel pretty and witty and-- hey!***
*** Remember when Ellen had a sitcom? Remember that month it was funny?
- Old Navy's clearance* sale rocks. In PEI I got two shirts (One is madras! Therefore I can dance on the beach!), and two tshirts (the seam-across-the-chest ones that everyone has. I think I have all the colours now). Today I got two pairs of shorts to replace my old paint-spattered and/or used-to-be-fatter** shorts.
- Gap Inc. has four brands. I am gobsmacked.
- Which leads me to this: in real estate there's a term that I learned from British TV: galumping. I'm not sure if this phenomenon is an issue, or even has a name, in North America.
- Back to me. I bought a watt-usage meter at Canadian Tire today. For the Americans who haven't experienced this store, I don't know what to compare it to. It's a Canadian institution much like Tim Horton's. It's branched out a bit to approach Wal-Mart on one side and Home Depot on the other, but it's still... something different. Anyway, suffice to say it rocks my socks. I call it the built-free store. Everything there is useful. This is less true today than ten years ago when I started saying that, unfortunately. Anyway. I plan to measure what's using electricity in our home, and then start working on reducing the usage. Biggest concern: appliances and electronics that are drawing power all day and all night. I will publish my results, because I know you'll be on the edge of your seats.
- I had a Mocha Frappuccino too. Mmmmm. If downtown Kitchener got a Loblaws (any brand would do) and a Starbucks, that would go a huge way towards making it happier, safer, and better. Of course, the only way Loblaws Inc would spend money on a new store in a downtown area would be if the city paid for it for them. Best not to go there.
- We saw something on a home decor type show today that was easy, cheap, and looked really good, and was in a ridiculously small niche that we are also in! We have sliding glass doors between the second bedroom and the "sunroom" -- the area that would have been a balcony, had this building been do built. The end result is that our guests, sleeping in the office/2nd bedroom, have no privacy. The designer used frosting film (translucent wallpaper, essentially) on the doors to create a bit of privacy. I found the rack at Rona, but there were no rolls left. They had patterned ones, but they were all too much. Too much pattern, not too much price.
- The Global Defense Initiative has triumphed over the Brotherhood of Nod. Woo! I don't remember if I've finished the game in the past, but I did today after installing the original DOS Command & Conquer a couple weeks ago. No more "Unit lost" for me!
- I biked to St Jacobs on Friday, and today I biked to the various stores, and apparently it adds up to 54 km! Not bad.
- Note the K-W airport at right, which is easy and cheap to get to compared to Toronto's Lester B. Pearson Airport ($69 one way for the shuttle). But you can't go anywhere except Detroit. So it's not that useful.
- I was in a place called Schindelsteddle? It just looked like a standard farmland-raping suburban big box plaza.
- This map is probably incorrect. Google Maps doesn't have the street data showing in the Gmaps Pedometer page, so I probably went too far, and only biked 42km or so. Oh well.
- On the way to creating that map, I learned that Ontario has too many towns. Seriously. Something's got to be done. Punkeydoodles Corners? Is this a joke?

Date: 2006-07-04 02:10 am (UTC)Yay for long-weekend induced retro-gaming! I broke down and bought Darwinia on Friday... it was entirely too expensive, but that's the price you pay to support innovative independent game companies that actually support Linux. Highly recommended if you're an RTS fan. But shop around for a better price than buying it from the UK website...
