I want to invent a meme.
Jan. 14th, 2006 03:05 pmHere's my attempt:
What would you do?
What would you do if you wonHere's my answer:
- $10?
- $1,000?
- $100,000?
- $10,000,000?
- $10: Put it in my pocket and maybe buy lunch one day instead of eating a frozen President's Choice meal.
- $1,000: buy an LCD panel for the computer and finally get rid of this lately-flickery
cap_hill_latte castoff, put the rest on my debt. - $100,000: Pay off all
leapfish's and my debts, take an expensive vacation, buy a bunch of savings bonds for the four babies, donate $10,000 to currently-undecided local charities, donate $10,000 to Kitchener-Waterloo Little Theatre so they can get out of debt, give $20,000 to family, and put the rest on our mortgage. - $10,000,000: All of the above, plus give $1,000,000 to
leapfish's mother, give $1,000,000 to my parents, give $1,000,000 to fund a university scholarship program for disadvantaged teens, give $1,000,000 to the University of New Brunswick for theatre, fine arts, and music funding, and invest the rest for us to live off of.
What would you do?

Date: 2006-01-14 02:27 pm (UTC)I would probably buy lunch, or I might donate it right away. It would depend on my mood.
I think I would either put it toward debt, or buy a PC-based laptop. I am wrestling with this as we speak, with fund I have rather than funds I've won.
Pay off all debt. Donate 20% of remaining amount to AIDS charities. After that, I would put the money aside for my baby fund.
Pay off all debt. Send Josh and Sue to college, all expenses paid. Donate 20% of remaining amount to AIDS charities. Build a house, have children, and establish an educational fund for them. I might consider living off the remainder, but I have a certain amount of ability to do that already, so I would probably work something out with my undergraduate college to build something, endow a scholarship, or buy something the college needed - provided they stop soliciting money from me in the future. :-)

Date: 2006-01-14 05:36 pm (UTC)$1,000: Put it in the bank account and let it just be naturally absorbed into my income and expenses.
$100,000: For a while, I'd treat it like the $1,000. Then I'd notice it and live big. Then I'd run through the money. Then I'd end up in debt because I was in the habit of having a six-figure bank account.
$10,000,000 Quit work. Go back to school full-time. Accumulate bachelor degrees until I either run out of money or die.

Date: 2006-01-15 05:50 am (UTC)$10? Put it in my purse. Two trips to Tim's with the kids.
$1,000? Divy it up between the kid's accounts.
$100,000? Put money into the kid's accounts, put half of it into a down payment account, and the rest to cover the debt.
$10,000,000? Have a house made for us, buy Mike some classy non-familyish car (I'd keep the minivan), give 1 million to my mom and dad, a million to my aunt and uncle, probably some to Mike's family and make sure that the kid's education funds are nice and chunky. Oh, and take a year long family vacation. :o)
