Option 1: Bush and Iran come to an agreement that does not start a war. Peace, however minutely, is encouraged. Tories win election, make life annoying-to-hellish for x years, depending on your income and sexual orientation.

Option 2: Bush makes a threat to wage war on Iran within the next ten days. Harper makes supportive comment. Canadians recognize the scary part (Canadian troops would be along for the quagmire). Martin wins minority again.

What would be a good income bracket to be in if the Conservatives win??

In your opinion. :o)

If you make under $8,000/year, the GST cut will help you.
If you make $8,000-$25,000/year (roughly), their cuts will hurt you.
If you make more, their cuts will help you, but because the GST is a regressive tax, it helps the richest people the most. i.e. if you're buying a brand new minivan, it saves you a couple hundred bucks. But if you're buying a used Taurus, it saves you nothing.

Gotcha! Thanks for the insight. :o)

Option 2?

I heard about the potential situation in Iran over the last few days, and I'm rather scared. Knowing what a warmonger (warmongerer?) he is, though, it wouldn't surprise me that he'd suggest simultaneous action in both countries. I can hear it now:

"Heck, they're just so darn close to each other. Why the heck not? Kill two birds with one stone, right? Hehe, Laura loves it when I say that. Come on, Laura honey - give me some sugar!"

:-P *sigh* I've only got a minimal attention span for election talk, even in my own country, so help me out here. If Martin wins, is that a good thing?

Well, there's some debate, even among lefties, as to whether it would be good or not. Martin is less scary than Harper, but both have problems. Canada would be OK regardless, but it might be a bumpy ride if Harper wins.

This sounds like people's response here in 2004 - which one is the lesser of two evils? While it seemed rather clear-cut what the response would be at the polls, we all know how that turned out. :-P

Exactly. To be honest, we're facing a choice between John Kerry and John Kerry-a-little-lefter. Our spectrum is awfully different.

I know. I'm just hoping for something stupid, and war might be the only way to trigger it. :)

I wish the Liberals would just run commercials that said "If Stephen Harper had gotten his way three years ago, hundreds of Canadians would be fighting and dying in Iraq right now. Vote Liberal!"

Hmmm. The UN is too slow, even at full speed. We only have twelve days! :)

Yeah, but if its brought up in the UN, then it might give Bush an "excuse" to invade now... ;)
