It's a small world after all...
Jan. 8th, 2006 02:29 amTonight we went for drinks at
benjidacruick's place. Lots of fun. Too many martinis. Had a fun time.
Left and walked to the bar with the gang, but we oddly seemed to shed people along the way. Even my husband decided to ditch me. :-( Found everyone at the bar eventually though.
Weird, small world thing: met a friend of a friend, and we got to chatting a bit, and he went to the same high school as me. I didn't recognize him because he's NINE YEARS YOUNGER THAN ME. Gah.
I'm old.

Date: 2006-01-08 06:32 am (UTC)The first time was very bizarre to me. I even found baby-mes.
I kinda hope they have another Alumni gala for the concert this year. It's different from when I was there, but change is inevitable. I just enjoyed being drunk in the auditorium.

Date: 2006-01-08 07:24 am (UTC)I found five people - four of whom were fifteen years younger than me. The other one was only two years younger, so I sent him an e-mail. He and his partner live in California now after years in New York. The year after I left Philadelphia his class ascended to the "Upper School" so he had interaction with my class, and he fell in with my old circle of friends. His best friend was the kid who had a crush on me when he was in 7th grade and I was in 10th.
I'm so glad I was naive when I was 15 - having cute little kid who's only 12 all hot for you and knowing what to do about it would not have been a good situation.
