Lazenious

Scenario

Cam wants to make his journal available to longtime friends and parents who are perhaps unaware of some of the seedier aspects of his life, or perhaps don't need to read descriptions of certain acts and/or body parts. He wants to friends-only any such posts. He doesn't want to actually reread his entire journal to ensure he got them all. He decides to have a contest wherein his LJ friends do the work for him. As a reward for any found entries, he promises to take and post a picture of anything they want, with the caveat of nothing visible that network television would refuse to show.

Question

Is this lazy ([livejournal.com profile] leapfish's opinion) or ingenious ([livejournal.com profile] c9's opinion) ?

I will update this post with the results of your vote, possibly activating this contest dealie.

So far there appears to be one vote for ingenious. Or at least, one person willing to participate. Update: You can ignore 1998-2003.

when you come to toronto... you need to pretend to be a japanese tourist and make a peace sign surrounded by a crowd of fellow japanese tourists.

i will find 1 entry for this.

We're going to see Blue Man Group soon. Can he do the same thing, but with the Blue Men, instead?

There's only three of them.

Granted, they're funny looking and don't speak English, so maybe if you gave them cameras it would work.

And now I'm going to have "I Feel Love" stuck in my head for the next twenty-four hours. Thanks a lot.

How many entries are we talking about?

From: [identity profile] c9.livejournal.com
I have no idea! There could be dozens. Though I doubt it. More like a couple or five.

I think it's ingenious... but how many entries we talkin' about here?

No idea. I have over 1000 entries in my journal total, and I'm only worried about public ones that have maybe a little TMI... you can see why I'm being lazy. :)

Personally, I don't recall your ever posting anything about yourself that was too seedy. Maybe I haven't read back far enough...

It's entirely possible. I'm just a worrywart.

I'll be happy to look through your journal... I've been wanting to go back and read earlier entries anyway. Yours is among the cleaner, yet adult journals that I read, tho.

Never fails to make me smile, either.

I'll let you know if I find anything. And no charge for this service.

I started this process, but I don't really know the comfort threshold we're working with here.

I mean, presumably, everyone you will open this up to is aware that you are gay, so saying Jake Gyllenhall is hot is not necessarily an issue... musing on his top or bottom status would seem borderline... and fantasies regarding his and your body parts working in unison toward orgasmic conclusion (or interlude :-P) would seem over the line...

How would you like borderline treated?

Date: 2006-01-07 02:43 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] c9.livejournal.com
Haha -- borderline is just fine. Basically, if I said something about a threesome involving me, I want that locked. :-)

Of course, now that I've commented on it, that defeats the whole purpose.

Well, you could lock this post.

From: [identity profile] c9.livejournal.com
Of course. The more I think about it, the less likely I find the need to hunt. I'm just such a straight edge, so to speak, and my parents are too. :)

Well, what if you just locked everything before now, and then locked only sensitive posts going forward. I mean, are your parents going to be journaling, or just reading your public posts?

And do they want to know if Jake is a top or a bottom? :-P

And I must have missed the threesome post.

Or, I am so desensitized to such behavior, it didn't even register as unusual.

Oh my.

You've suddenly given me impetus to read your journal history. ;-)

I vote that laziness and ingenuity are not mutually exclusive. :)

But I've been reading you journal for years now and I can't recall anything even slightly dirty. Oh wait--something about the trip to London and a minor celebrity ...

Yeah, that crossed into "must be limited-group-of-friends-protected" territory pretty darn quick.

I think you're right, I think I'm worrying for nothing.

Sure, why not. I won a prize of yours, after all.

I agree with the general sentiment: there's nothing too shocking in any of your posts that I can recall.

The real danger with opening your LJ to family is that they start clicking through to your friends page, or worse, your friend's linked blogs... this has bit me a few times :-)

Haha -- yeah. I almost need to carefully check Vinny's blog too. :)

well there are programs out there to "friends-only" your journal.

However, if it gets to Toronto pride time (and my expected visit :), if I'm enticed with something good to come of it, I would help.

Some enticements: all people inside the house must be sans clothes, some sort of herbal refreshment when I got there, um...oh i'll think of something.

Woo woo!

I wonder if this is the sort of commentary my parents would enjoy.
