I have a present for you!

As long as you = Canadian citizen (or interested in Canadian politics).

Cam's Pretty Clearly Left-Leaning Riding Write-ups!

I am planning to do a write-up of several different ridings, showing the candidates, the predictions, maybe a suggestion, and the previous results. And I'll do it for your riding! My goal is to provide information that everyone will find useful, not just people who agree with my politics. All I ask is that you post something you want to know about your riding that will help you decide how to vote. Alternately, tell me your goal for this election. Please be sure to tell me your riding too. Go here to find out.

Example: "I want to know if the Green Party has any chance at all in my riding, because I'd kinda like to support them if it will get them a seat."

Another example: "I think Stephen Harper will actually come into my home and steal my baby and force my child to work in a sweatshop with the homosexuals. I want to stop that."

The final example: "I want the Liberals out out out out out. Also, out."

Etc.

The riding profiles start tomorrow! For those of you uninterested, sorry in advance. I will try to post non-election programming for your benefit too.

Well I know personally...it would've been nice to have a month free of lawn signs here in BC....we had a provincial election in May (fixed date), we also had civic elections in November (also fixed), and now this federal election, which is the only flexible date out there. Why Harper, Layton and Duceppe couldn't have waited until Paul Martin called an election himself is beyond me - they could've had a nice holiday, passed a few bills after Christmas, and done work for Canadians like they're supposed to. Instead, they're so incompetent, stubborn and power-happy - that they force an election before Christmas, which I can't imagine is good for any Canadians - especially the families of the politicians. That, and I like to hate Stephen Harper. Jack Layton is a bit of a bleeding heart socialist - but I don't think he's completely incompetent.

Personally, I like the idea of being involved in politics more than once every 4.5 years. But I'm not especially representative of the general population.

The very basis of a minotiry government is that the party in power only gets power as long as it has the confidence of the House. For the other parties to say they wanted the Liberals out, but then to just let them continue governing, is actually counter to their *responsiblity*, which is what "they're supposed to" do. In my opinion.

Well I think that if Paul Martin hadn't already agreed to call an election when he said he would, it would've been a completely different story. I think it just comes down to Harper being power hungry, and not much else. They were obviously not listening to the majority of Canadians that said that they don't want an election. When it comes to politics, I think it's all about listening to the general consensus of the population over anything else.
