Five years ago last week, I joined Polar Bear full time. Of course, it was called BroadLeaf back then. But I've now been part of a company, with primarily the same management, for five years now. The company itself, as previously mentioned, has grown rather absurdly, but hey. Polar Bear is actually owned by CrossOff, Inc., a publicly-traded Sydney Nova Scotia-based technology firm.

Yay for five years of occasional stability and warm feelings towards work! Something depressing though. This is the graph of the CrossOff stock price basically since I joined. I often joke that my perceived potential obviously didn't pan out...

Makes me feel a bit better about this. Though, I can't help but take the fact that the stock went into a freefall the day I joined the company a tad bit personally.

The opposite happened with my last company, it spiked up a lot the day I shoined which meant my stock options were set at that high closing price and had I joined the day before they would have been worth a lot more. ;(

I actually had a similar problem. My options were priced at $1.85 -- which was higher than the day/week/month I joined, but was never reached after the point they became exerciseable. Depressing.

At least your options were worth something. MSFT hasn't hit my option price since it was struck. The only reason I got anything for them was that I opted into to the buy back program which netted me a few $K, but nothing significant.
