Calgary West MP Rob Anders is previously known for such hits as calling his opponent 'not anti-gay and anti-abortion enough,' and suggesting that Nelson Mandela was a terrorist. Of 308 MPs of five parties, he was the only one to object to giving Mandela honourary Canadian citizenship when he visited in 2002.

This week he sent an "mailer" (those Update From Your MP-style pamphlets you sometimes receive) not to his own riding, but rather to a riding in Richmond, BC. This is legal, just weird.
The survey bears a masked man with a gun on the front, under the question: "Are you concerned about the impact of the Crystal Meth epidemic in your community?"

The mailer concludes: "Tell Paul Martin to get tough on crime by filling out this questionnaire."

There are four survey questions:

- Do you like the way Paul Martin spends your taxes?

- Are the Liberals doing enough to fight crime?

- Do you support homosexual sex marriage?

- Do you think more should be spent on the military?
Ummm...

do the American fortune cookie thing, and add in bed to each. Makes the questions far more interesting:

- Do you like the way Paul Martin spends your taxes in bed?

- Are the Liberals doing enough to fight crime in bed?

- Do you support homosexual sex marriage in bed?

- Do you think more should be spent on the military in bed?

How could anyone say no?!

I don't know if it is worse that he sent this out, or that he continues to be re-elected by the good people of Calgary West.

Since when have gay people become their own sex? Does this make bi people the new trans-folk?

So what does that make Rob Anders' marriage? Heterosexual sex marriage? What a fucking moron.

What happens when a man and a woman who aren't heterosexual get married? oh wait...I mean get sex married? who cares about orientation if two people want to have a marriage contract between them they should be able to.

I very much enjoy my sex marriage. It's the non-sex marriage that should really be an issue. It's those people that shouldn't be able to get married! LOL

We need to introduce him to Cynthia McKinney, a Democratic Congresswoman from Georgia.

This is the woman who, when a Saudi prince offered ten million dollars to the city of New York to help rebuild after 9/11, on the condition that they accept responsibility for attracting the terrorists, she offered to accept the money to help poor blacks.

Several weeks ago, Representative Murtha (can't think of his first name) suggested that we pull all the troops out of Iraq NOW. It was put to a vote, and only three of the 400+ representatives who voted were in favor of it. Cynthia was one of them.

By all accounts she's charming and interesting in person, but her continual loopy comments and contrary voting record mean that she has no credibility in Washington and can't get anything done for her constituents if they need something.

Well as long as they're having sex... I'm all for it :P

Otherwise (from what I've heard) wouldn't it be the same as heterosexual marriage?

I would guess the question (that passed editors eyes) was "Do you support Canada's current definition of marriage?"

Then Rob quickly changed it before sending to print - I'm sure he felt he needed to highlight the real question. Whoops.
