Bullets

Everybody seems to be in bullet-point-post mode these days, and who am I to disagree? So here I present my random bullet points of news and/or opinion, mostly as a way to fight boredom at work:

  • I saw Return of the King last night, and it was good. Taken alone, not great, but suitable as the completion of the nine plus hours of story. LOTR is too epic to ever really be translated to screen and still be tolerable to watch, but this was a fantastic approach. <SPOILER>My only complaint was the ending. Since it had to end all three movies' worth of plot, the ending went on for WAY too long.</SPOILER>
  • I'm very tired, since the movie didn't start until 8pm, and as Vinny mentioned, entire countries came into being, had revolutions, and faded away over the course of the showing.
  • I'm lonely. Throughout my life, I've always had dozens and dozens of friends, including several close ones, but ever since moving to Halifax I've found that I have fewer friends, and fewer close ones, and I'm still not used to it. Have you ever gotten the feeling that two friends you've introduced to each other now prefer each other to your company? I don't know if that's a common feeling, but since moving to Halifax 3.5 years ago that feeling has appeared a few times (rightly or wrongly of course) and it's not fun.
  • We fly to Ottawa on Sunday to visit my parents and brother, returning on Boxing Day. Then on the 27th we drive to Fredericton to visit Vinny's family. The standard MacLeod-DuJohn high-mileage-low-relaxation Christmas. :)
  • My friend Sarah says that she may start noncrazyexpensiveweddingbells.ca or screwyouandyourtraditionsweddingbells.ca
  • I need a new career / life goal. I'm tired of teaching, and I really don't feel like I'm moving forward. But with Vinny's stability in question due to the Mancock merger, I need to provide that stability, at least until we've paid for the wedding.
  • Fuck, weddings are expensive!
  • www.weddingbells.ca is heterosexist.
  • I hate shaving
  • I feel like I should have more hyperlinks in these bullet points, and/or make some of them more wordy
  • <GEEKY>Has anybody played with Fedora yet? How stable / production-ready is it? Can I start teaching using it instead of RH9? What are the gotchas?</GEEKY>
  • Is anybody still reading?

Well, that was so much fun it may happen again someday.

Fedora has some kinks. Try SUSE 9.0 or Gentoo.

May you find like-minded companions.
