Bullets

Everybody seems to be in bullet-point-post mode these days, and who am I to disagree? So here I present my random bullet points of news and/or opinion, mostly as a way to fight boredom at work:

  • I saw Return of the King last night, and it was good. Taken alone, not great, but suitable as the completion of the nine plus hours of story. LOTR is too epic to ever really be translated to screen and still be tolerable to watch, but this was a fantastic approach. <SPOILER>My only complaint was the ending. Since it had to end all three movies' worth of plot, the ending went on for WAY too long.</SPOILER>
  • I'm very tired, since the movie didn't start until 8pm, and as Vinny mentioned, entire countries came into being, had revolutions, and faded away over the course of the showing.
  • I'm lonely. Throughout my life, I've always had dozens and dozens of friends, including several close ones, but ever since moving to Halifax I've found that I have fewer friends, and fewer close ones, and I'm still not used to it. Have you ever gotten the feeling that two friends you've introduced to each other now prefer each other to your company? I don't know if that's a common feeling, but since moving to Halifax 3.5 years ago that feeling has appeared a few times (rightly or wrongly of course) and it's not fun.
  • We fly to Ottawa on Sunday to visit my parents and brother, returning on Boxing Day. Then on the 27th we drive to Fredericton to visit Vinny's family. The standard MacLeod-DuJohn high-mileage-low-relaxation Christmas. :)
  • My friend Sarah says that she may start noncrazyexpensiveweddingbells.ca or screwyouandyourtraditionsweddingbells.ca
  • I need a new career / life goal. I'm tired of teaching, and I really don't feel like I'm moving forward. But with Vinny's stability in question due to the Mancock merger, I need to provide that stability, at least until we've paid for the wedding.
  • Fuck, weddings are expensive!
  • www.weddingbells.ca is heterosexist.
  • I hate shaving
  • I feel like I should have more hyperlinks in these bullet points, and/or make some of them more wordy
  • <GEEKY>Has anybody played with Fedora yet? How stable / production-ready is it? Can I start teaching using it instead of RH9? What are the gotchas?</GEEKY>
  • Is anybody still reading?

Well, that was so much fun it may happen again someday.

Fedora has some kinks. Try SUSE 9.0 or Gentoo.

May you find like-minded companions.

I feel the need to quickly mention that I am not passive-aggressively (passively-aggressive? passively-aggressively?) trying to say something to anyone, honest, I'm just talking about life and feelings and bullet points. I only mention this because I have some friends who might read too much into this, those damned prima donnas. :-)

You were really right about LOTR, saw it last night. Man it took forever to end after "that big climax", it was really ridiculous. The last 25 minutes they could have summed up with a caption ".... " (like I'm going to spoil it for people who haven't seen it.

I hear you on the wedding front. We are having a small supper at our wedding, 30, and its $750 + tax and wine. Its not looking like my dream of a small intimate wedding is going to happen.

I probably put it in my Palm before the hurricane ate it. Have I mentioned that I'm jealous of Vinny's new Palm? :-)

Vinny got a new palm? I never knew. I bet its way more flashier than my Palm IIIe that I got collecting dust in the storage closet down stairs.

Palms make money on ebay, even old ones, you should sell it!

Yeah, he got a good deal through work on a Tungsten E. I want either that one or a Tungsten T3, but I just don't have the money to spend, so I should quit dreaming about it for now. Maybe next year sometime.

Well maybe if you ask nicely it could be your xmas present for this year. If that doesn't work just "borrow" it and run away. (Who ever said that I came up with good suggestions?)

Oh. We need to make some plans for over the holidays as well, we should talk tonight since you are leaving on Sat/Sun. I'll try to remember to call you, if not call me. (I'm pretty forgetful)

I will totally forget. We're in F'ton Dec 27-30, but in Saint John the 28th. Call Vinny's cell (902-223-2945) to find us. I can't make plans yet, Vinny's Mom gets first dibs. :)

OK, give us a call when you have a free moment in town with nothing to do. :)

(Damnit I thought I was higher on the pecking order.)
