I received a lovely gift today, so as requested here is a song-by-song response.

Beautiful, by Christina Aguilera: I love this song, and the political part of me loves the gay couple making out. Also, the horny part of me likes that part.

Don't Panic, by Coldplay: Very nice! I'd never heard this one, and Coldplay (until now) was filed in my head under "Brits (I think) who just play weepy rock and every song sounds the same." Very judge-a-book, but I've been music lazy for a while.

The Beautiful Occupation, by Travis: Nice. Reminds me a bit of Sloan and for some reason Oasis. But nicer. I'd like to see them in concert.

She Will Be Loved, by Maroon 5: I love everything Maroon 5 does. They make eggs for breakfast, I love it. They play a song, I love it. They kill puppies, I... well, I'd have to at least let them explain. Also, he's a hottie. I love this song.

I'm Beautiful, by Bette: My goodness. I know this song, and I had no idea. :) Must be something from Five Minutes Of Fame with LuLu LaRude, in Halifax. Fun song!

Let's Get Back, by No Doubt: I'm liking No Doubt more and more these days. This song is very different from the new stuff, I recognize the style as older (I think). I like it too, but it seems to be missing the heavy backbeat or something.

Beautiful, by Moby: I never know what to expect from Moby, he's wild. Some of his stuff I could listen to for 24 hours straight, other stuff is just weird for the picture that I have in my mind. Not actually weird or bad though, just unexpected. This song fits in there. I like it though, having given it a careful listen.

Hyper-ballad, by Bjork: I'm one of those people who has heard about 45 seconds of Bjork, probably something very odd, and nothing ever clicked, so I avoid her. This song is odd, but not bad at all! I like the beat and the ethereal quality of it.

Beautiful Day, by U2: One of U2's best anthems. I'm a big fan -- some friends and I drove 1400km once basically to see them in concert at the SkyDome, then drive home. Totally worth it. U2 is on my shortlist if I had to pick only one artist to listen to the rest of my life.

Forca, by Nelly Furtado: Nelly Furtado sings such poppy, fun songs, and she's Canadian! How can I not like her? Well, I do like her work, except for when it's overplayed to death like "I'm Like A Bird" -- that just drove me batty. But I like her work when it's fresh, and this song is really nice.

It sounds like I'm just saying everything is nice, but I really am listening and thinking about this. :-)

Beautiful Stranger, by Madonna: This song is great, but it's so Austin Powers in my head, so I try to just enjoy it peripherally so I don't end up being annoyed at Mike Myers' overdoing of the gags. :)

Flawless, by George Michael: I love George Michael. I wonder why I haven't heard this song in the bars? Oh yeah, cause I don't go often enough!

Beautiful Child, by Rufus Wainwright: Rufus is so cool. I love the intro. Everything he does sounds so *epic*. It's like how every Dave Matthews song sounds like the last one in a concert. I almost need to lower the volume, he puts so much out there. it's very cool.

IIEEE, by Tori Amos: I know Tori sets fire to pianos, and that all my friends love her and tell me to love her too. I just never got into her much, despite enjoying what I heard. I think she was always outside the bounds of my mood. Yikes! She just went all weird electric guitar. Yup, she's in a different mood than I am tonight. Short-lived though, she just got calmer. I like the non-guitar 90% of the song.

Beautiful, by India Arie: I love the two or three India Arie songs I've heard before. This one is really nice. Gentle and soothing.

Giving Myself Away, by Faithless: That was nice, calm and groovy.

Reasons to be Beautiful, by Hole: I like Courtney Love's acting far more than her singing. She rules in 200 Cigarettes, but her singing... I like the song, I'm finding. It's just her voice that gets to me on the rockier bits. :)

First it Giveth, Queens of the Stone Age: Ah yes, very heavy, as warned. My tolerance for heavy rock is based on the voice. If the person is screaming him- or herself hoarse, it sucks. If they're actually singing, then they get a listen. This reminds me a bit of Econoline Crush, in the voices. The guitar is a bit repetitive though, so it's not really doing it for me.

Do You Realize??, The Flaming Lips: I've heard this song before! I think it's in an ad or something. Nice song.

as far as accessibility goes, i'd have to say that Little Earthquakes would take that title.
