How long am I going to have to hear people say, and read posts that use, "fag" and "gay" as non-sexuality-specific adjectives? This sandwich is gay, you're a fag, and so forth. It's really fucking sad, and if I knew when the world was going to grow up, I'd be OK to wait it out.

It's just not a word that needs to be used in any context unless one is just trying to be vulgar. In it's "proper" context it's just as bad as any racial slur. In the context of "not a nice person" I personally prefer "ass". With apologies to all of the nice asses I’ve met. (In my head I always think of it as “donkey” though I suppose it’s really short for “asshole”.)

Well, the rules for toilet capacity in the States are expressed in gallons. Typically, urinals use four litres, regular "commodes" use six litres.

There's actually quite a business in contraband toilets from Canada. My new house was built in 1986, and my mother's in 1988, before the rules changed, which means we will not be changing out our plumbing fixtures any time soon.
