When chopping jalapeno peppers, do not touch your nose. Even if you wash your hands, you will end up touching other parts of your body and the next 24 hours will be spent in varying degrees of discomfort.

I've heard.

I've heard

Have you now?

Incidentally, I do hope this person didn't touch their eyes. That would just be exponentially worse.

p/s - send my apologies to the person in distress...

Oh no, not the eyes. *that* would be crazy.

Well, it could have been by accident.

I exaggerated a bit. My nose burned for a while, then my fingers a while later, then my tongue for some reason. But I'm OK now.

I exaggerated a bit. We were making salsa for the Survivor premiere on Thursday -- we're hosting this week's party!

I have rubbed my eyes after handling chopped jalapeno peppers.

Once.

I have four containers in the freezer. But for you, I need to add more jalapenos first.

I secretly like the feeling in my nose of Thai chilis and garlic (a few hours after dinner). But I'm, uhm, weird.

Seb also warns of using the restroom with contaminated hands ...

The best thing to do is cut them using gloves, plastic bags, or saran wrap.

The feeling in one's nose after eating is very different from the feeling in one's nose after raw jalapeno contact. But OK.

Usually I'm fine, I must have gotten distracted this time, that's all.

Indeed... Caleb once chopped Scotch Bonnet (same heat as habaneros) peppers, then several hours (and several hand washes) later, put his contacts in. Oooh... that was a bad scene. I was getting sympathetic eye watering.

BTW, you should see our new rings, Cam!

Well, I meant after eating a dinner which I prepared myself, including the cutting of thai chilis. :D That is, I cut chilis with my hand, ate dinner, and then had the sensation in the nose. Not quite as potent as just after cutting them, but still pretty strong.
