London, France, Kitchen, Vinny's tuition, my work had an event last weekend... many reasons, all of them no good today cause I miss Burning Man, but all of them actually very sound. The real world is stupid sometimes. :)
Every year starts with a Burning Man Planned Probability of 1.0 (that is to say, I plan on going each year). Tickets need to be purchased in February or so in order to get cheap prices, although purchasing right up until last Wednesday was possible. But other issues often pop up, so who knows.
One potential wrinkle: we will have been in the condo for two years next Burning Man, and the likelihood of us selling it and moving increase quite rapidly between now and 2007, since neither of us is thrilled with downtown Kitchener. Were we to move anywhere between August 5th and September 30th of 2006, it would fall off the plans pretty quick. It's hard to make it a priority, since it's a guaranteed $1000 spend. :)
I keep getting the impression that you two aren't overly happy with Kitchener... would you go back to NS? or maybe to NB? Any specific thoughts on the books?
Kitchener: hole. Seriously. A BAG of HUMAN FLESH. What. The. Fuck.
NB: not gonna happen until maybe we have kids. Vin says "never," so certainly major change would need to happen before it was an option. My company would love to have me there, that I know.
NS: totally possible. Problem is finding work for Vinny, not very likely right now. But five years down the road? Who knows. We certainly miss Halifax a lot. I see Toronto as most likely for our 2007ish move, based on job options.
A bag of human flesh? Jesus, I totally missed that... for some reason, I focused more of the murder thing since Vin had mentioned it in an e-mail a couple of days before.
He spent 23 years there, so I understand his reticence. I only spent 5 years there (minus a year and a half of coop terms) so it still has a lot of charm, and no bad memories.
Wow, I so miss BM! I can't believe that was 3 years ago.
Chris, Evan and Justin had already left, we were cleaning up camp, getting ready for the temple burn. I remember you saying "wouldn't it be cool if everyone were just silent for this" and thinking how awesome that'd be, but the INSANITY of getting 20,000+ people to be quiet for the burn of the temple and the fact that I thought it was impossible.
But then the temple started to burn, and nothing. Not a peep. 20,000+ people not saying a thing, but taking in the power of the temple burn.
I still have a piece of that temple, and I look at it every so often, it's just a piece of wood, but man, what it signified is awesome.
Oh my, I forgot about my prayer flag, I'll have to find that. I'm pretty sure it's at work, as that is where I had it hanging last.
Maybe next year if we don't make burning man we should do a trip to your cottage (sorry, don't mean to invite myself ;)) where we can do a psudo-burning man and burn a few things on the camp fire, and I'll toss that piece in for sentimental value. Either that, or something that did go to BM with us.
We should hold off on BM next year, and go the year afterward, then it'll be our 5 year anniversary of BM.
Even if I don't make it back soon, make sure you do! Now that Vinny and I own property, he's back in school, we're talking (slowly) about adoption... there's just so many things to derail plans! :)

I'll do my best to send him next year.
