c9: (Senators)

I finally found a copy of the NHL rule changes for 2005-2006. I have no idea how many (if any?) hockey fans are reading this, but it sounds like it really could change things a lot. One example: no more ties. Ever.

Let's go Senators!

yes, I'm a sick sick man.

Funny. When I click on the tag for this post I get this error:

I think it's a known bug with tags that have more than one word. I have kludged my way around it.

I dunno, it seems like they're trying to regulate away the league's problems. It concerns me, but we'll see how it goes.

Well, since spending fifteen years alternately pretending the problems didn't exist, and pretending to improve the enforcement of existing rules, this is a welcome change of tactics for me.

Although I admit that I don't like removing ties. That bugs me.

Me too - LOL, as a kid we were always taught that ties were great since we're all winners - hee hee.

Yeah, there's no way to win a debate about the money. You either support the billionaire owners or the millionaire players... nobody seems to support the poor fans! :)

Hopefully things will change in some way, so we can see whether the rule changes have an effect.

I don't get it. How does "no ties" improve the game? That's one of the things I liked about NHL hockey that differentiated it from other competitive sports. There was a way for a game to end with out a decisive somewhat forced (like in baseball) winner. It's good for the fans to have some angst once in a while.

I agree. I'm not a fan of shootouts at all, because all they prove is that one person can sometimes beat a goalie. Hockey is about a team. Mostly it's leftover bitterness from the Canada Cup (maybe it was called World Cup of Hockey by that point?) when Canada lost to Sweden in a shootout. 1994 or so.

I am looking forward to going to a Coyotes game, but I really don't like the no-tie thing.

Sport illiterate here. I had to think about your example for a while. I was pretty sure that ties weren't a part of the hockey uniform.

I'm all for hockey failing completely. The traffic when the Sens have a home game is impossible.
