c9: (Theatre)
Well, that's that. Popcorn Plays V went smashingly, and hopefully profitably (the audience was smaller than the January One Acts) so as to assist in the theatre rebuild effort. A timeline:

1835 - depart Kitchener for St Jacobs, having printed out a bunch of pictures to give away.
1900 - arrive just in the nick of time* to not be late.
2007 - show starts
2235 - show finishes
2310 - theatre has been cleared, set disassembled and loaded into vehicles, stage swept, cookies rescued
2350 - all our stuff has beebn unloaded at Princess Street, our half-rebuilt theatre
0000 - arrive at [livejournal.com profile] robsgoatfarm's for cast party**
0025 - visit the torn-to-shit half-renovated 24-hour Sobeys*** to buy some mix and cups, since I was DD and DiDn't want water.
0215 - get asked for a previously-promised drive home for a fellow cast member, so we start saying goodbyes
0235 - rescue the mix, since it clearly was not getting any attention
0240 - actually get out the door
0310 - arrive home
0330 - climb into bed, pass out
0945 - wake up for some reason
1030 - make ManuMuffins for breakfast
1120 - plot how to get a Chiller without making a trip just for the Chiller

Pictures to come soon!****

* I feel this urge to be early, extra helpful, and "also part of the crew whenever I can" with KWLT, not sure why. I don't mind it, so I don't question it. But arriving just at 7 felt late. Very late.

** These always seemed to be called cast parties in my history, but they are never just cast. End-of-show Parties?

*** There is nothing so spooky and so "Look at me, I'm breaking a law or something" as shopping inside a construction site after midnight. Other than, I suppose, actually breaking the law.

**** Where soon != daylight hours on east coast. I lied, they're up.

For everyone who missed the show -- turns out, this was *everyone* except my devoted [livejournal.com profile] leapfish -- here are some pictures and random notes for you. If you'd like to watch the show at a rate of 2 frames per second, where you have to advance the frames yourself, visit this page to see 347 still photos from opening night. Thanks [livejournal.com profile] robsgoatfarm for taking them, and [livejournal.com profile] mccorpsecorpse for the camera and hosting! I'm including photos of the shows I was in below, but you can see all twelve shows at that page, in the following order:
  1. Bonedock Jones, England's greatest detective
  2. What It's Like, a conversation (and clothing switcheroo) on gender roles
  3. Parental Guidance, a cute take on parents' wishes for a child's first date
  4. Weed Dreams, described below with pics
  5. War To End All, cell phones and the battlefield, together at last!
  6. Broken Mirror, a moving scene on abuse and response

INTERMISSION to allow a breather after that very serious one

  7. Something Went Wrong, described below with pics
  8. Middle Earth Dating Service, featuring Smeagol on a blind date.
  9. On Second Thought, or, Love in the 21st Century, featuring a hooker, a writer, and an office worker, along with a dancing Orgy troupe.
  10. The Key to the Mystic Halls of Time, described below with pics
  11. Fairy Tale for Boy and Girl, a hilarious two-person four-character uncountable-laughs show.
  12. Lewd Loves of a Lusty Laundress, described below with pics.
Now, since this is my journal after all, far more attention shall be paid to the shows I was on stage for. Wooo!Read more... )

Ottawa Senators Stanley Cup Playoff History

1903 - Ottawa Silver Seven defeat two different challengers.
1904 - Ottawa Silver Seven defeat four different challengers.
1905 - Ottawa Silver Seven defeat two different challengers.
1906 - Ottawa Silver Seven defeat two different challengers.
1909 - Ottawa Senators go unchallenged
1910 - Ottawa Senators defeat two different challengers.
1911- Ottawa Senators defeat two different challengers.
1920 - Ottawa Senators defeat the Seattle Metropolitans in two separate series.
1921 - Ottawa Senators defeat the Vancouver Millionaires in two separate series.
1923 - Ottawa Senators defeat two different challengers.
1927 - Ottawa Senators defeat the Boston Bruins.

In total, nine Stanley Cups. More than Boston. More than Chicago. More than New York. More than anybody except Montréal (24), Toronto (13), and Detroit (10). For the Leafs fans, it's now been 39 years since they won the Cup. 40 years before that was the last time Ottawa won, but Ottawa's only been in the league for 22 of the last 80 years. Hmmm.

Also, just in case anybody wants to claim that the old Ottawa team and the new Ottawa team can't be combined: why not? Your favourite team no longer has the same coach, players, GM, owner, arena, ice, skates, technology, broadcasting network, fans, and sometimes even city that it had when it began. How is this different?

1934-1992 - Ottawa had no NHL team.

1992-1996 - didn't make playoffs

1997 - lost in first round to Buffalo
1998 - lost in second round to Washington
1999 - lost in first round to Buffalo
2000 - lost in first round to Toronto
2001 - lost in first round to Toronto
2002 - lost in second round to Toronto
2003 - lost in third round to New Jersey
2004 - lost in first round to Toronto
2005 - no NHL season
2006 - so far, have beaten 2004 Stanley Cup champs Tampa Bay in first round.

Please keep your fingers crossed.

Everybody say hello to Smashy, she was in the plays with me and is awfully nifty. She thinks LJ is stoopid and spends all her time on Blogger though, so I syndicated her blog for two reasons:

1. This way I can read her blog the lazy way (i.e. without actually visiting it). I do this for all my favourite non-LJ blogs. LJ friends pages rock my socks almost as much as [livejournal.com profile] robsgoatfarm's black lights rocked my white socks last night.

2. Also, it allows me to point you to this entry really easily: Go! Quickly!
