Kitchener Day Five
Sep. 1st, 2004 09:03 pmLast night, I dropped
leapfish off at Pearson to fly back to Halifax (that crazy ManuLife!), and headed back to Kitchener. I was hoping the furniture would arrive today, but it didn't; instead, it will be arriving tomorrow afternoon. More time for me to clean, which is both good and bad. Cleaning is good, but I'm soo sick of cleaning (that's the bad).
So far I've scrubbed the inside and outside of every cupboard (even the underside of each shelf!), and I've started the work on the stove. It's old, and in pretty bad shape, so I bought oven cleaner and sprayed it on the inside under each element. Hopefully it will work its magic. I also purchased some bathroom scrubber-type spray, so as to bleach out the stains in the bathroom tiles, etc. I don't mind cleaning as long as I feel the cleaning product is doing some of the work, but I hate it when I'm scrubbing away, with little effect, and the bald guy is just smiling at me, as if to say, "You loser."
I also purchased some plastic cutlery. Now I can eat the salad and yogurts that I purchased yesterday. Yay me!
Free internet is not as ubiquitous as I'd hoped. The internet café I'd used this morning and last night closes early, so tonight I'm out in universityland (both Wilfrid Laurier University and University of Waterloo are in Waterloo), using the free wireless in the shopping plaza between the campuses. (Campii? I can't remember what
simplisticton and I decided on)
Or, more accurately, I'm *trying* to use it. It works fine if you're in the right spot, but my laptop battery likes to go to bed early, so I had to go inside "Johnny Fiasco's Restaurant With Taps" to plug the laptop in. And my laptop can tell there's a wireless network nearby, but it can't get a response.
How is it that we can slow down light itself, store information inside holographic cubes, and create quality entertainment like Six Feet Under, but we can't get a goddamned wireless network to communicate with the spot I'm sitting in? I mean, Jebus.
As payment for using their electricity, I'm ordering supper here. Club sandwich. Hope it's good. They're also showing the World Cup hockey game, so that's good for my entertainment too. Ahh, food just arrived. TTYL, you well-connected readers. :)
