Last night, I dropped [livejournal.com profile] leapfish off at Pearson to fly back to Halifax (that crazy ManuLife!), and headed back to Kitchener. I was hoping the furniture would arrive today, but it didn't; instead, it will be arriving tomorrow afternoon. More time for me to clean, which is both good and bad. Cleaning is good, but I'm soo sick of cleaning (that's the bad).

So far I've scrubbed the inside and outside of every cupboard (even the underside of each shelf!), and I've started the work on the stove. It's old, and in pretty bad shape, so I bought oven cleaner and sprayed it on the inside under each element. Hopefully it will work its magic. I also purchased some bathroom scrubber-type spray, so as to bleach out the stains in the bathroom tiles, etc. I don't mind cleaning as long as I feel the cleaning product is doing some of the work, but I hate it when I'm scrubbing away, with little effect, and the bald guy is just smiling at me, as if to say, "You loser."

I also purchased some plastic cutlery. Now I can eat the salad and yogurts that I purchased yesterday. Yay me!

Free internet is not as ubiquitous as I'd hoped. The internet café I'd used this morning and last night closes early, so tonight I'm out in universityland (both Wilfrid Laurier University and University of Waterloo are in Waterloo), using the free wireless in the shopping plaza between the campuses. (Campii? I can't remember what [livejournal.com profile] simplisticton and I decided on)

Or, more accurately, I'm *trying* to use it. It works fine if you're in the right spot, but my laptop battery likes to go to bed early, so I had to go inside "Johnny Fiasco's Restaurant With Taps" to plug the laptop in. And my laptop can tell there's a wireless network nearby, but it can't get a response.

How is it that we can slow down light itself, store information inside holographic cubes, and create quality entertainment like Six Feet Under, but we can't get a goddamned wireless network to communicate with the spot I'm sitting in? I mean, Jebus.

As payment for using their electricity, I'm ordering supper here. Club sandwich. Hope it's good. They're also showing the World Cup hockey game, so that's good for my entertainment too. Ahh, food just arrived. TTYL, you well-connected readers. :)

I can finally eat at home now that I have my internet hooked up - I had been eating out for pretty much every meal such that I could use the free wireless at the various cafes and restaurants in my 'hood. I can see a few wireless networks from my apartment, but unfortunatly the only unsecured one is also darn flaky.

I still don't have my wireless set up - I'm restricting myself to short bursts of internet use within five feet of the modem until I get my bathroom and kitchen set up.

Speaking of which...

I was on the highway for a chunk of the evening, and a few times the phone rang but there was nobody there, like I got cut off or something. I'm around more this evening, just gimme a call after 8pm Eastern (that's when I get free minutes)

Campuses, I think. Campii just sounds... weird. If someone can tell me if the origin of campus is Greek or Latin, I might be able to make a more educated answer. But I don't have a decent dictionary handy.

Campus, latin for "field".

Second declension noun, therefore plural is "campi".

"Campuses" also perfectly acceptable if you are speaking English rather Latin, as most of us are. English accepts either the pure Latin form, or the standard English "s/es" pluralization.

"Campii" would be the plural of the word "campius", which I think is pretend.

Don't forget that I left you some grocery money (which you haven't picked up yet). Let me know if you need more.

I didn't trust my laptop's battery and the weird wireless in a parking lot to do my banking, so I'll be doing it this morning... :)

We can store information inside holographic cubes?

That's really cool.

Well, I can't, and you can't, but there are some physicists somewhere (probably California) who can. I read about it on physicsweb.org or somewhere.

Damn. I guess it's back to storing my information on sticky notes and the backs of bank machine receipts again.

I'm marking them with empty cardboard boxes. So far I can last until mid-2017, crazy IKEA.
