1. Past: equal marriage rights in Canada. It's important and very personally relevant. Future: first actual left-wing federal government in Canada. It would mean Canada would continue on the path of social responsibility, and possibly make Stephen Harper's head explode.

2. Yes! "Kitten." I still have him. He is quite clearly a baby lion. But I decided that he would be Kitten. He's in good shape now, but I doubt he'll last to be my children's Kitten.

4. During rehearsals for "The Thwarting of Baron Bolligrew," our stars were having trouble learning their lines despite the imminent opening of the show. The principal overheard and bitched us out something good. I spent the whole lecture inwardly smug because at least I knew my *two* lines. Embarassing personally that I took that route.

5. Hmmm.

• "Literally," which no longer has any meaning.
• "Faggot/Fag" still bothers me deep down, despite the queer community's reclaiming attempts, and my obvious comfort with queer.
• N*gger, which triggers various combinations of white middle-class guilt, sadness over historical racism, depression over current racism, anger over current apathy, and annoyance that to be cool in many ethnic communities is to be non-book-smart, ill-behaved, and often an outlaw.

1. Funny, but the Canadian Liberals are very lefty to me. Our current government which is center-left wing oriented is more conservative than yours. Things could change if we elect a woman for president... which is not too far, considering she's leading the polls.
