I had a bad night's sleep last night. Big fat hairy deal, as the kids like to say, right? Ugh.

22:30 go to bed
23:30 wake up, use washroom. diarrhea. wonder if I caught whatever Lucky has.
23:45 back to bed
00:30 wake up, run to use washroom. more diarrhea. sit for a while. vomit rather violently. recognized too many meals (sorry!). I'm feeling dry, so I drink some water.
01:00 back to bed
01:45 wake up, run to use washroom, more diarrhea and vomit (a LOT). Rather painful of course. All the water I drank uhh ... returns, let's say. after puking, I drink some more water because of course not I'm very dehydrated.
02:30 back to bed
03:00 wake up, run to washroom, diarrhea and vomiting, both are almost clear (which is creepy). I finally figure out that I better stop drinking a bunch of water each time, my system is just rejecting it. It's very scary to be in gastrointestinal distress and unable to drink water. To me, anyway.
03:30 back to bed
04:00 same old routine, but this time I need to have some water otherwise I would actually fall over. Cam dies by hitting head on tub while Vinny sleeps. Not a good scene. So I drink, very slowly, a small glass of water. I also try other remedies I've heard. My mom says yogurt, so I had a tiny spoonful. Yucky flavour, so I didn't continue with that. I also ate about one tablespoon of bread. THe flavour was so strong I couldn't eat any more. But after about 40 minutes, I was fleeing about 10% better, so I refilled my water glass and climbed into bed.
05:45 I wake up, intend to stand up and refill my water, instantly get a charley horse. Haven't had one of those in at least a dozen years. Ouch, to say the least. I'm still in bed right beside Vinny, so I can't avoid waking him up (sorry, dear).
05:59 alarm goes off, since I'm supposed to drive to London this morning. After what I estimate to be four and a half horrid hours of sleep. I even had a dream that Vinny refused to give me any sympathy, just in case my mental state was too positive.

Holy fuck. I think I'm going back to bed, at least for a couple hours.

Sorry, just needed to vent a bit.

Sounds like a combo of what I probably caught from my dad two weeks ago. Especially the vomiting part. Over and over.

If it is, you'll be fine tomorrow.

I had that little 'bug' a few month's ago. I tried to drink as much water as I could but I kept puking it. I hope you get better soon.

Feel better!

Auch! I had the same bug some time ago. I had to go to the hospital because I was too dehydrated. If you can now, have some Gatorade, drink it slowly and in small "doses". It might help.

Gett well soon :)

I don't *think* you can catch things through LJ, but better stand back just to be safe. :)

Keep drinking the water.

I friend of mine got himself extremely dehydrated because of the flu a few months ago. The first symptom of his dehydration - a charley horse.

And the Gatorade suggestion. Go with that. And Ginger Ale.

I hope you feel better soon! At least the play is done, so you don't have to worry about puking on the audience!!

I had a very similar thing last night. Freaky. been doing the Giner Ale thing, seems to have helped. I have a 13 hour day of classes ahead of me, so I had better be good. I don't want to use my one abscence per semester today!

Oh...

I second the Gatorade; if you find that your system keeps rejecting it, start drinking it more slowly in very small doses using a tablespoon (it sounds odd, but it really works). Feel better soon.

You know, morning sickness isn't just limited to the morning... :-)

J. kidding - hope you're feeling better. I'll share my flu cure - spicy potato chips. I like wasabi but jalapeno will work in a pinch. Get them as greasy as possible and let them melt on your tounge until your stomach can deal with them. Like Saltines, the blandness of the chips sits well in your stomacy - the spice tends to take away the nausea. Just make sure you drink lots of water/gatorade/soda as well - the chips will add to the deydration.

I'm probably the only person who thinks that sounds like food poisoning, especially because of the clear everything toward the end (most people with food poisoning can't keep anything down either). The fact that you didn't reject the bread and yogurt toward the end is a good sign. If you haven't been sick since 4am, I would write it off as food poisoning. If you have, it may be a Norwalk-like virus (look that up!) which typically lasts around 36 to 48 hours. if it was a Norwalk-like virus, most people with excellent immune systems have antibodies against that for several years afterward so you may not have to deal with it again until then. *crossfingersknockonwood*

This is my public service announcement to everyone - during this time of year, you have to wash your hands religiously, with lots of soap, especially before eating or preparing food. Norwalk viruses (the stomach flu) are primarily transmitted by hand-to-mouth contact after touching a contaminated surface. The best defense against it: washing your hands.

Needless to say, I'm knocking on wood that I don't catch anything this winter. I'd hate to miss two days of classes and work because of it *says a few extra prayers too*

p/s - I don't think you can catch viruses or infections from animals... and hope you feel better! *hugfromafar*

Ouch! About half a dozen of my co-workers came down with something that sounds eerily familar to this last week (thankfully, they weren't at work, they were at an office party).

Now that Zach is here, I'm ultra paranoid about getting sick. Good excuse not to go to work, though :-)

sounds like food poisoning to me

A few years ago Ben and I attended a reception for a friend who was called to the bar. We ate some bad potato salad and I ended up spending a day in the hospital with symptoms similar to what you described. Only in my case the vomiting started first and the diarreah snuck up on me. It stuck while I was bent over the toilet in the washroom at the emergency room waiting area. I had to use the call bell to get a nurse to bring me some clothes to change into...talk about embarassing.

A couple of shots in the ass and some prescription gravol and immodium and I was feeling a bit more like a human being. Of course as soon as that happened, Ben started getting sick. Thank god I believe in sharing prescriptions LOL.

Well if that's what Lucky has you can keep her :P

I hate vomitting... especially when there's nothing left to puke up.

I always wish there was some way I could tell my body "stop it there is nothing left, you're just waisting your time and draining my energy!"

Anyhow, hope you're feeling better soon!

Ouch, Cam!

Make sure you drink lots of water so you don't dehydrate. Even if your body doesn't like it too much.

I hope you recover soon.
