They're easier once you ignore the Y: YYC is Calgary, YHZ is Halifax, YHM is Hamilton. Well OK, not easier. But at least there are letters in common. Sometimes more than one!

Date: 2005-01-11 07:24 pm (UTC)Regarding ORD (O'Hare in Chicago, which used to be Orchard Field) - there is a high-end mall called Old Orchard in Chicago, which has nothing to do with Orchard Field. The developer was given the name by Mrs. Marshall Field, who said her father couldn't remember her fiance's name and called him "Orchard" instead of "Field."
