Yeah, I refuse to go see it. It feels like a giant piece of religious propaganda out of Mel Gibson to me, and well, I'm just not into that kinda thing.
If it were coming out of another group who was more interested in doing it correct historically, rather than 'everything in the bible as it is written is the absolute truth'. But Mel Gibson believes that the bible is 100% truth, and everything in it happened exactly as stated.
I laughed the entire way through the movie, it was so poorly done and so over the top with sound effects and acting that it was the most hilarious thing I've ever seen. I didn't laugh loudly, so as not to offend anyone, but even now when I think about it, I start laughing... :)
Oops, I thought I was replying to this by email but it didn't post that way. Anyway, the part with the crow pecking out the guy's eye, yeah, I did laugh out loud at that point and in fact, I still laugh when I think about it. The over the top sound effects are what really got me in hysterics throughout the movie. It reminded me of a B-Horror movie. Also, the few times they spoke Hebrew was terrible, their Hebrew was barely recognizable as Hebrew and they totally screwed up the last supper meal. I'm quite certain Mel is insane.
It's so weird, cause he made stuff UP! There's a weird scene with a crow that is totally fabricated, and various androgynous-Satan snippets that are his artistic interpretation too. Surreal.
