Yup, reward!! Normally backtracking is not allowed, but it's allowed when required by a specific published route. So in this case, there are very few StarAlliance ways to get between SYD and NRT, which helps! I'm excited to take the A380 to Singapore, but I'm kinda bummed that it's 8 hours in economy! Stupid StarAlliance partners not having more routes for me to choose from!
