Well, that's true. But really, the US moved wayyyyy too fast on equal marriage. They're all "look at us and civil rights blah blah" but the country really doesn't move that quickly. Another 5-10 years and things will be a little easier to accomplish down there. At least the beachhead was held in MA and CT.
Turnout was higher in the US than in Canada for the first time since 1800-and-something!
The 18,000 same-sex marriages in California are now in limbo. The way the proposition was worded, the marriages are gone and meaningless. But the California AG has claimed that they're still valid.
The people that created and fought for Prop 8 are also not really going to be satisfied if even a single marriage survives, so I suspect lots of court cases are coming. Sad.
