I wish I had gone to see Bon Cop, Bad Cop, even though it's probably your standard terrible Canadian attempt at an action movie, just to help get us over that damned $11.2 million.

The bilingual cop movie Bon Cop, Bad Cop has taken in more than $9 million at the Quebec box office, making it the highest-grossing film ever in Quebec.

The comedy about a straitlaced Ontario cop, played by Colm Feore, and a roguish cop from Quebec, played by Patrick Huard, trying to solve a murder on the border of the two provinces passed a new milestone over the weekend.

Erik Canuel's roller-coaster thriller dethroned the previous highest-grossing film, 2002's Séraphin: Un homme et son péché.

It has earned more in Quebec than Hollywood blockbusters The Da Vinci Code and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.

Since opening Aug. 4, Bon Cop, Bad Cop has brought in $9,389,972 in Quebec. Elsewhere in Canada, the film has earned $1.3 million in ticket sales, putting its overall box office at more than $10 million.

It is not doing as well in English Canada as last year's Quebec hit, C.R.A.Z.Y, which earned $6.2 million in English Canada after scoring multiple Genie nominations.

The overall Canadian box office hit was Porky's, which earned $11.2 million in 1982.
