1. Every time I walk by the payphone at the office, it has on the screen, "Please lift receiver." Seriously 100.0% of the time, I think of [livejournal.com profile] jdhorner's story of confusion over why Montrealers kept walking up to phones, lifting the receivers, then putting them back again.

2. More recently, whenever I take two inner slices of bread from the bag, and return the heel of the loaf to its end position, I think of [livejournal.com profile] msvu20's belief that it has a supernatural protective power, protecting the other slices from harm.

3. We have a squeegee in our shower, which we use to reduce the effect of the horrid, horrid KW water on our not all that special really shower tiles. Being a good geek, I have a pattern to using it. Every time I reach one spot in this wiping pattern, I think of my little brother. I have no idea why.

4. Our cat Lucky has similar colouring to a cat I had in high school named Winnie. I often almost call Lucky by her name instead. We have a program on the computer that cycles through our digital photos and displays them on the desktop while we're working (it's called Vital Desktop in case you're curious). In the collection there is only one picture of Winnie, but oddly when I see it I never recognize her. She doesn't seem familiar to me at all. It's like my brain has decided that Lucky looks more like Winnie than Winnie did.

5. The disposable cameras at our wedding were of a low quality (Loblaws brand; I'm cheap), and the lenses were not very good in some, leading to warped images. It's only visible when a person is on the edge of the frame. There's a picture that we love of [livejournal.com profile] leapfish and our friend David (his best man David's boyfriend -- yes, David & David) smiling at the camera, but Vin is on the edge of the frame and is stretched slightly. Every time I look at this photo, I think of Quentin Tarantino. Just a little.

I dare you to think up things that remind you of things but not include any sex-related ones.

It's in my pile.

But I don't see how my brother could be featured. That would be freaky.

(I'm kidding of course)

Ahh yes. We're just puttering doing nothing. Vin on the crosswords website, and me reading Kung Fu Monkey archives. Wheee!

Man, I would die if I stayed up til 1 every night. I did in school all the time, but now I just can't do it any more. That makes me feel a little sad.

i'm tooling around with some os x system services editors and a font manager. meanwhile, we're both watching an old episode of SNL, with kelsey grammer hosting.

and i'd go to bed sooner, but i just can't sleep. so i get about 5 to 6 hours of sleep on weeknights, but i think i've grown used to it.

I think I could get used to that again. Perhaps I've just been spoiled by having relatively early nights available so regularly.

Going to bed just seems so much easier than (insert almost any verb here).

Yeah, we probably won't go to bed until 3:00am or so. We so bad!

Also, it's nice to know that other people have really weird memory associations, too. (Nearly) every time I brush my teeth, I remember a conversation I had with my step-mother about 12 years ago. And lots of others, too, but I won't bore you. :)

Crap – I have a ton of these, but can’t think of any right now. Here’s the closest -- a little like the Winnie thing:

My current bedroom reminds me of the bedroom in my last apartment in Seattle so much that -- more than once -- I've woken up, looked around, thought that I was in Seattle, and concluded that I only dreamt that I moved to San Francisco.

Oh, also, if I miss any of the steps of my morning routine that I always do in the same order I tend to botch the remaining ones as well.

What's this thing you call a "payphone"? :-).

I saw a payphone today and it got me thinking about the last time I've used one. As far as I can remember it was at DTW in early 2002. I used a credit card (not recommended if you don't want to pay $10/min). The last time I can remember using a payphone with coins was when I landed at SEA the day I moved to Seattle.

Wait, I lie. I used payphones in Canada before I got my North America roaming plan. But still...I think I may have only used a payphone twice in this country. I <3 cheap cell service.

every time

I see this website, I think of Beluga Whales. Strange.

http://www.vanaqua.org/belugacam/index.html

haha - in any case - each time I walk onto the elevator, out of the corner of my eye, I always see someone/something running down the hallway towards me. I've even held the door a couple times without thinking. There is never anything there. Or hasn't been. Maybe it's a premonition of something/someone to come!? yikes. why would they be running at me. do they/does it want to eat me.

could be bad, could be good. hmmm.

and

1. Every time I walk by the payphone at the office, it has on the screen, "Please lift receiver."

Somehow this phenomenon gets omitted from my daily entries, but I can not work a payphone to save my life.

A lot of the time, when I check my lj friends page, I start humming Salve Regina without realizing why.
