Birthday Weekend Report

The observant among you may recall that my 30th birthday was a couple weeks ago. This is true. However, my present from
leapfish was experienced today, and we had a grand time last night too, so I'm just calling this my birthday weekend.
Last night we grocery shopped, sat and relaxed, drank some wine, then had James and Lindsay show up. We were woefully prepared for hosting a gathering, but we plied them with what alcohol we had, and they were polite even when they hated the drinks. I helped by drinking perhaps too many drinks with them. Quickly. After a quick visit to the roof to check out the view, we headed for the bar. It was pretty quiet, but it picked up and another friend, Nathan, showed up. Gay bars without a bunch of friends are pretty sad, so this was a good thing. More drinks were had. This is called foreboding.
I was drunk enough to say stupid things, but not drunk enough to do stupid things. Hooray!
Back home with the gang for hummous, another trip to the roof for Nathan to see the view, then they all piled in a cab and headed home and I dragged Vinny from the couch to the bed. 3:25 AM. Ugh.
This morning at various times, alarms went off, the sun rose, the cats meowed, and My. Head. Pounded. I had little experience with drinking in my young stupid days, so I don't have much hangover experience. Oh my god. Ick. Took several hours to get from 25% to 75%, let's say.
Vin hit the market while I absorbed moisture in the shower, then we hit the road for the world-famous Straford Festival. We had tickets to see the musical Oliver! Great fun, once we finally worked out our map difficulties.
Things I learned from Oliver!i

Things I learned from Oliver!i
- Any problem can be resolved by singing about it.
- The resolution involved usually means the girl loses.
- Orphans have nonstop fun lives, and get all the attention.
- Plot is something that is mostly reserved for non-musical productions.
- If you can sing really loud, you get more applause.
- If you're really tiny and the designated cute kid, you get more applause.
- Since your songs and singing are just so amazing, instead of a basic curtain call you can bring back all the characters to sing a musical montage of the more popular verses heard already, but somewhat out of character since the cops don't chase the criminals, and instead dance with them.
- Musicals often have volunteer cast members sitting in the audience, singing along when they know the words. Poorly.
