When a US President is sworn into office, they swear to uphold the Constitution of the United States. Reasonable. Then what of this?
“I don’t give a goddamn,” Bush retorted. “I’m the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way.”

“Mr. President,” one aide in the meeting said. “There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution.”

“Stop throwing the Constitution in my face,” Bush screamed back. “It’s just a goddamned piece of paper!”
A class act, that one.

I hate to say I told you so... and if I could find the post I made about it, I would. :-)

You told me so? I find this highly unlikely...

I made a post at some point observing that if Bush was sworn to an oath to "uphold and defend" the Constitution, how could he make ammendments to it?

Interestingly enough, Thomas Jefferson, as well as several other of the founders, thought that the American constitution should be re-written periodically from scratch. Considering that the constitution -- sans the Bill of Rights -- stipulates that a federal tax must be paid on slaves purchased after 1860, I tend to agree. :-)

A scheduled constitutional crisis. Now THAT sounds like fun.
